This company makes gourmet quality roast coffee and more while saving possums.
Trash Cat Coffee Co., an e-commerce cafe with a cause, announces its 1st anniversary celebration. The company was established in October 2021, delivering gourmet-grade roast coffee across the country in support of Petri’s Place, a non-profit organization dedicated to rehabilitating injured and orphaned urban native wildlife.
Company founder Tina K. Davis started Trash Cat Coffee Co. after caring for 10 abandoned possums that needed rehabilitating. One of these opossums is Petri, hence the name of the non-profit group. Petri is the matriarch of the organization and was found by Tina’s aunt just at the dawn of the COVID lockdowns.
Unknown to many, recovering opossums requires a lot of effort and financial support. “I needed to become a rehabber. After becoming one, I learned that running a rehab, even a tiny one dedicated to a single species, is extremely expensive. All supplies, medications , veterinary care, food – all the things – are self-funded,” said its founder.
With this challenge came the idea of setting up an e-commerce store selling premium coffee to support the owner’s advocacy. Today, the company offers a wide range of coffee products. It offers blends, single-origin products, flavored coffee, single-serve cups, sample packs, and limited-edition items like its Pumpkin Spice Holiday Edition bags. Despite the challenges of the pandemic last year, Trash Cat Coffee Co. successfully received positive feedback and loyal customers.
The brand reviews have completely endorsed its advocacy and the quality of its products. One of the customers, Brian Nichols, said: “I had a nice triple espresso this morning, I did the Trash Cat Italian Roast!” Another customer, Leigh Musicof, said: “Just received my third bag of Trash Cat Coffee. The Cinnabon flavor is the best of the three I’ve tried.
Trash Cat Coffee Co. also offers different merchandise items. Users visiting its website can shop by logo, character or limited edition categories. Under his logo, there are jackets, mugs, t-shirts, fanny packs, aprons, and more. The character category takes users to the possum-designed clothes and accessories of the shop. The company also offers gift cards for people whose recipients prefer to choose their own gift.
Proceeds from Trash Cat Coffee purchases are donated to Petri’s Place, which is run by Tina Davis. Tina is a wildlife rehabilitator in Texas. To support the organization, visit https://www.petrisplace.com/.
